Plasma TV

The Plasma TV display panel is a kind of flat panel display common with larger TV displays of 32" inches or larger. Many minute cells are between two panels of glass which hold together a mixture of noble gases. The noble gas is electrically turned into a plasma which then excites phosphors to give off light. Plasma TV should not be confused with LCD TV which is another lightweight display using completely different technologies.

At present plasma panels cannot be economically manufactured in screen sizes smaller than 32" however a few companies have been able to make plasma EDTVs this small some even having made 32" plasma HD TVs. With the trend towards large screen sizes growing the 32" is rapidly disappearing. Considered thick and bulky to their LCD counterparts some TV sets such as Panasonic's Z1 and Samsung's B860 rtanges are as slim as one inch thick making them comparable to LCD TV's.
